TEACHER'S COMMUNICATIVE LANGUAGE TEACHING (CLT) STRATEGIES IN IMPROVING THE SPEAKING ABILITY OF THE HOSPITALITY STUDENTS (A CASE STUDY AT SMKN 5 BARRU)

The descriptive study focused on investigating CLT strategies employed by the English teacher in hospitality classrooms to improve students' speaking abilities. This research conducted a mixed method design with quantitative analysis applied small proportion only measure mean score of pre-test and post-test students improvements. participants this involved one class from twelfth-grade (XII) at SMK N 5 Barru that consisted 20 students. Observation field notes interviews were used as instruments for data collection. utilized Richards's (2006) three practices mechanical practice, meaningful communicative practice basis teacher. analyzed major steps such reduction, display, conclusion drawing proposed Miles & Huberman (1994). findings indicated mostly rather than practices. In applying abilities, provided active discussion activities worked pairs or groups encouragement integrating some additional tools online platforms applications. Moreover, cumulative verified level proficiency demonstrated 57.5% improvement, leading enhancement their score, which was classified moderate categorization. concluded helped abilities gradually, these applications also serve purpose engaging captivating language learning encouraging them opportunities utilize technological advancements developing skills.
